| Not all the art of Turin is on display in the museums. For decades, Turin has been one of the most important incubators of young artists in Europe, and thus it is no surprise that a business has sprung up around all this painting, photography, and installations. It is impossible to count the number of galleries in the city, many of which are nestled in the small and charming streets of the old city center. Many of these galleries were born out of the Arte Povera and the art of Menzio, Merz, Paolini, Casorati, the Piedmontese Surrealists, and other important artists. Of course a considerable number of Turin’s galleries have popped up in just the last few years thanks both to the entrepreneurial talent of young gallery owners and to that of the young artists who continue to make Turin an art studio. We can only mention a few of the many galleries Turin has to offer, but at least it’s a start. You’ll have fun discovering the rest on your own. |
