History is made of mankind, but above all it is made by mankind. And many of the men who have created the history of Italy were born or have lived in Turin. Architects, statesmen, painters, scientists, writers, philosophers: Piedmontese men of great renown are innumerable. But we tried to count how many there actually are: the list that is printed here is just an initial nucleus of that illustrious group which ExtraTorino will explore over time. There are historical figures – many of whom were protagonists during the Risorgimento – but there are also contemporary people who, rather than being part of the past, represent the present and the future of the city.
