Vinum 2005: the wine piazzas
This weekend and next weekend, Alba will host this spring's first big enological manifestation.
It is called Vinum 2005, and it's a must for all wine lovers and tourists. From April 23-25, and next weekend as well, Alba will transform itself as every piazza takes on the name of a DOC or DOCG wine. Between Piazza Roero and Piazza Barbaresco the wine tastings will abound, offering the nectar of the gods from Piemonte and further afield.
A few of the most enticing attractions will be the 2001 Barolo 2001 and the 2002 Barbaresco, Piazza Piemonte (with wines from the entire region), Piazza Italia and Piazza Mondo, which will be set up inside the “Alba Galleria” shopping center, offering 100 types of wine from 18 different countries from all over the planet. The event will also feature the nomination of Piemonte's best Sommelier, wine show rooms, conferences and, on May 1, the historical parade through the streets of downtown Alba.
A true Wine Festival, combining pavilions exhibiting wines and historical commemorations: something for everybody.
