Carlin Petrini founded Slow Food in 1986 in Bra (in the province of Cuneo) with the aim of creating an association which would promote and safeguard not only the best food and wine products of Piedmont, but also the very culture behind these gastronomical traditions. Slow Food is thus all about prioritizing the pleasures of food and leisure. In just 17 years the once small organization of Bra has succeeded in creating branches all over the world and spreading the culture of the “savoire-vivre” all over Italy and the world. Slow Food is also responsible for bringing the largest food and wine fair in the world to Turin: il Salone del Gusto (the Fair of Flavors).
